Arts Connection for Monday, May June 12, 2017 - Bob Beasley - Bible League Canada's book "One Dominion - Celebrating Canada Prepared for a Purpsose"

As Canada nears its 150th anniversary as a nation, a number of ministries have been looking back on the impact the Christian faith has had in the country’s history. The Bible League Canada recently published the book One Dominion: Celebrating Canada Prepared for a Purpose. The Chatham, Ontario-based Bob Beasley is the Bible League Canada’s vice-president of International Ministry and one of the co-authors of the book.

Arts Connection for Monday, May June 5, 2017 - Carolyn Currey, Rachel Starr Thomson - 1:11 Ministries new book "Fearless: Free in Christ in an Age of Anxiety""

1:11 Ministries combines dance, music and spoken word for a unique artistic worship experience. Now the group has added book publisher to their resume with the release of the book Fearless: Free in Christ in an Age of Anxiety. Three of 1:11 Ministries members wrote the book: dancer Carolyn Curry and writer Rachel Starr Thomson.

Arts Connection for Monday, April 24, 2017 - Brad Woods - An Evening of Story and Song

Storytelling, which is as old as the first time someone sat around a fire and described how they tracked and killed their latest meal, takes many forms. This coming weekend three different type of storytellers will combine for an evening of story and song. Brad Woods, along with playwright Ins Choi will use words while the Great Wooden Trio will use song.

Arts Connection for Monday, April 17, 2017 - Christina Ronzio - St. John's Illuminated Bible

While Illuminated Bibles have been around for centuries, the St. John’s Bible combines both modern art and medieval techniques to create a visual meditation of the scriptures. A copy of the St. John’s Bible has been purchased by the Diocese of Hamilton and is housed in the Bishop Farrell Library and Archives at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King in Hamilton.

Arts Connection for Monday, April 10, 2017 - Justin Sytsma- 4th annual Art of the Cross event

Lakeside Downtown’s Art of the Cross event has become a Good Friday tradition in Guelph. This year the church will hold its fourth annual event where artists interpret the various Stations of the Cross. Each year, since 2014, hundreds of people have walked through the church to observe and reflect on the art being created.

Arts Connection for Monday, March 27 - Rebekah Smick - "Opening Frames" conference

IMAGO, the Institute for Christian Studies, Ryerson University and TIFF, the Toronto International Film Festival, have teamed up to sponsor and present Opening Frames: Cinema and Transcendence, a two-day conference which hopes to “open a conversation on the film and transcendent/religious/spiritual” by probing the space between the sacred and the secular.
