Arts Connection for September 22, 2011 - Mikey Fisher from Havenstance

Havenstance came together as a band this past February after being asked to lead worship at a downtown Kitchener church. After the evening of ministry, the band decided to stay together, put out an EP and have been performing and ministering ever since. Havenstance guitarist and vocalist Mikey Fisher gives us some insight into the unique perspective and unique ministry of Havenstance.

downhere vocalist aims at spot in Queen touring production

The high-pitched vocalist from downhere, Marc Martel, is doing what many Christians say we should be doing - but getting flak for it.
 
Martel has entered the Queen Extravaganza (http://www.queenextravaganza.com) contest where musicians use a video to audition a spot on a 2012 tour featuring the music of Queen. The band will be made up of musicians hand picked by Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor. This is not a tribute band. It’s a touring production of Queen music.

Guelph’s Lakeside Church is embracing the arts this church year - returning to the days when the church supported both the arts and artists by being on of the few congregations in Canada to establish an Artist in Residence program. Visual artist Sylvia Woods, Lakeside’s first Artist in Residence talks about the program the goals of this new ministry.
