From July 1941 to July 1945 more than 17,000 men and women toiled in a sprawling munitions factory in Scarborough manufacturing nearly 250 million fuses and primers to be used by the allies in World War II. Barbara Dickson (http://www.barbaradickson.ca/) has written Bomb Girls: Trading Aprons for Ammo, a history of the GECO plant.

Phil Irish (http://philirish.com) is working with a new format, new materials and a new exhibit. The Elora, Ontario-area artist opened his exhibit “Precepice” at an art gallery in Hamilton in December and it continues until the end of January.
