Arts Connection for April 25, 2013 - Ali Matthews - singer/songwriter

Tonight’s guest, at one point, held the GMA Canada’s record as the artist with the most nominations in one year. Ali Matthews’ (http://www.alimatthews.com) 11 nominations in 2006 has now been beaten by downhere but she’s still come away with 14 GMA Covenant Awards and 36 nominations in her music career. We chatted with the singer-songwriter, while she was on the road during an Eastern Ontario tour.

In his website biography, tonight’s guest says he’s “devoted to creating artwork that glorifies Christ.” And while one of his latest sculptures does just that, it’s been rejected by two prominent churches. Arts Connection for February 21, 2013 - Jay Calder - guitar virtuoso

Jay Calder has been called the Canadian Phil Keaggy. A guitar virtuoso whose first CD Breakfast with Barnabas was nominated for a Canadian Vibe Award and a solo performer who received the “Best Acoustic Artist” at the Toronto Independent Music Awards. Calder is also part of the Couples Night Out team and has been travelling the country with that ministry, which was in Kitchener recently.
