For the past two and a half decades, Word Alive has distributed the end product of authors. A decade ago, the company decided to produce that end product and formed Word Alive Press (http://www.wordalivepress.ca), a “hybrid” publisher that combines the strengths of both royalty and custom-book publishers. But like others, the Winnipeg-based company is weathering the storms of change book publishers now face with the closures of bookstores and the increase in e-commerce. Word Alive president Jeremy Braun talks about these challenges and changes.
