Arts Connection for July 4, 2013 - Karla Adolphe - Aftermath of the High River Flood

Singer/songwriter Karla Adolphe (http://www.karlaadolphe.ca/) is one of the 13,000 residents evacuated from the Alberta community of High River after floods. In blog posts she’s written about the event, Karla has talked about watching people delivered to the fire hall in gravel trucks and how her husband, Gary, a volunteer fireman, has continued helping with recovery efforts. Karla phoned us from her temporary home and shared her experiences about the flood and what those affected by the flood need.

Arts Connection for June 27 - Sheila Wray Gregoire - Grace Irwin Award winner

How Big is Your Umbrella? to describes the grief journey, after the death of Sheila Wray Gregoire"s (http://www.sheilawraygregoire.com/)  son. Her latest book, The Good Girl’s Guide to Great Sex has earned her the title of the “Christian sex lady.” But recently it also earned her the Word Guild’s Grace Irwin Award—a $5,000 prize which is Canada's largest literary award for writers who are Christian.

Arts Connection for June 20 - James Tughan - Flagship Gallery opening

A new art gallery has opened in Hamilton with the unique perspective of displaying art by those who work from a “broadly conceived Christian worldview.”  Artist and educator James Tughan (http://jamestughan.blogspot.ca/) is one of those involved with the start-up of the Flagship Gallery and he’s on hand to give us some insight into the gallery’s aim and establishment.

Arts Connection for May 23, 2013 - Ainsley Boyd - Photography exhibit

While accompanying a palaeontology expedition, taking pictures of fossils, tonight’s guest discovered a discarded and waterlogged photography portfolio. Photographer Ainsley Boyd (http://ainsleyboyd.com/index.html) has taken these photos and turned them into the Fossil’s exhibit running until May 31 at Toronto’s Earl Selkirk Gallery. Ainsley’s taking a few moments out of her honeymoon to talk with us about this exhibit and her budding photography career.
